About The Position

Each position employed with CYO Camps helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description. GENERAL SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL PURPOSE: To assist in implementing the camp's food service program; Cleans and maintains kitchen and dining hall areas.

Requirements

  • A good example for youth.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of CYO.
  • Ability to work under pressure in time constraints.
  • Must be able to lift/unload/move food and supplies.
  • Willingness to pitch in with other general camp duties when needed, like moving luggage, and cleaning areas other than the kitchen and dining hall.
  • Current CPR/First Aid and Food Handlers required or willingness to obtain prior to camp season.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred previous experience cooking or in the food industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Cook in implementing an outlined food program.
  • Give direction to any additional support staff.
  • Follow the approved menu plan provided by the Program Coordinator.
  • Use appropriate equipment to follow local health standards.
  • Function as general all around assistant cook and dishwasherfor all meals and special events.
  • Prepare and serve tasty meals and snacks based on providedmenuin sufficient quantity, minimizing waste.
  • Use kitchen equipment safely.
  • Operate electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Clean dishes, food contact surfaces, and kitchen. Assist with dining area if necessary.
  • Report all concerns and problems to the Seasonal Head Cook.
