About the position

The Kitchen Staff Substitute position at Opaa! Food Management, Inc. involves performing essential kitchen staff functions on an as-needed basis. The role requires assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. The position is vital for supporting daily operations in the kitchen and cafeteria areas.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with set-up of serving lines daily and ensure food is held at the required temperature.
  • Assist in the preparation of foods according to the menu plan and Opaa! recipes.
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, and grinders with proper certification.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
  • Clean kitchen and cafeteria areas, including equipment and dishes.
  • Organize inventory stock and practice First In/First Out (FIFO) procedures.
  • Requisition food and supplies through the Kitchen Manager.
  • Prepare baked goods as required by the menu plan.
  • Batch cook to maintain quality product and food presentation.
  • Serve food items with proper serving sizes and utensils.
  • Maintain accurate daily production records and follow HACCP processes.
  • Handle customer transactions and complete necessary paperwork.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds frequently and over 60 pounds occasionally.
