About The Position

Kitchen Shift Managers are responsible for providing leadership and supervision during assigned shifts to ensure safe, efficient, and mission-driven food service for campers, volunteers, and staff. Working under the direction of the Food Services Manager, Kitchen Shift Managers lead Food Services Assistants, support meal preparation and service, and uphold all food safety standards.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Minimum 2 years of comparable high-volume cooking experience
  • ServSafe Food Handler Certification
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to lead a team, delegate responsibilities, and hold others accountable
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in food service or kitchen leadership

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Food Services Assistants during assigned shifts to ensure tasks are completed efficiently
  • At the direction of the Food Services Manager, prepare and cook meals according to established menus and dietary guidelines
  • Ensure food is prepared, served, and stored in compliance with all health and safety regulations
  • Train, coach, and support Food Services Assistants and volunteers in best practices for kitchen and dining hall tasks
  • Collaborate with the Food Services Manager to maintain inventory and supplies
  • Uphold kitchen cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout shifts
  • Serve as the point person for the kitchen when the Food Services Manager is not present
  • Model professionalism, dedication, and teamwork in a camp setting
