About The Position

Global Relay is seeking a Kitchen Porter/Prep Cook for its corporate office in Manhattan as part of its offering to an eventual full time staff of 250 employees at this location. Along with breakfast and lunch service for staff, the candidate will be responsible for assisting the Chef with executive client event breakfast and lunch meetings as well as on site event catering. Candidates for this position must be professional and courteous, with experience dealing with the public. This is an open in kitchen within a professional work environment. This is a dynamic role that will combine most kitchen porter duties with prep cook duties. In this capacity you will be responsible for satisfying a variety of needs for Global Relay's lounge and kitchen related areas.

Requirements

  • 2-year Culinary Arts degree or equivalent 2 years work experience
  • Experience in a professional kitchen, hard working with a can-do attitude
  • Experience in a high-volume environment an asset
  • VIP catering experience is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Continental breakfast setup: cereal, fruits, pastries, yogurt and grab‐and‐go stocking
  • Organize food & beverage vendor deliveries in storage
  • Stocking of coffee stations (including: cups, lids, condiments, coffee etc. for all satellite kitchens.
  • Clean coffee machines and prepare for morning service on all floors
  • Assist with post‐breakfast and lunch service cleanup (including seating areas, plates, cutlery, dishwashing etc.)
  • Assist with satellite kitchen clean up and maintenance
  • Dishwashing and ownership of plate and cutlery program
  • Collection of dirty plates and cutlery
  • Assist Culinary team with preparation of menu items utilizing prep lists and recipes
  • Some cooking and execution of breakfast and lunch menu
  • Ensure plates and cutlery are ready for breakfast and lunch service
  • Assist Culinary team with execution of breakfast and lunch menu as well as events
  • Assist Culinary team with breakfast and lunch service plating
  • Ensure overall cleanliness of all kitchen areas
