About The Position

Camp Lake Hubert is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Kitchen Manager to lead our food service team during the 2026 summer season. You’ll play a critical role in creating a positive, safe, and efficient kitchen environment that supports our vibrant camp community. With oversight of three daily meals for campers and staff, you'll work alongside a diverse group of 14 seasonal food service team members from around the world. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on quality food preparation, team supervision, scheduling, safety, and cost management.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of experience in kitchen or culinary management (mass food service, catering, or banquet experience a plus).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with people from various cultural backgrounds with patience and professionalism.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment—able to stand, lift (up to 40 lbs), and move for extended periods.
  • Flexibility and a sense of humor—camp life is dynamic, and every day is different.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working in a camp, resort, or large group setting is highly desirable.
  • ServSafe certification or culinary education is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and inspire a multicultural kitchen team to deliver consistent, high-quality meals.
  • Coordinate and supervise all food prep, service, and clean-up for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Oversee scheduling and daily shift coverage for kitchen staff.
  • Manage food and labor budgets, inventory, and ordering in partnership with our Food Service Director.
  • Monitor kitchen cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation standards—including adherence to COVID protocols if applicable.
  • Collaborate with our Special Diets Intern to ensure all dietary needs and restrictions are safely and respectfully handled.
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients.
  • Maintain kitchen equipment and submit work orders when needed.
  • Create a supportive, inclusive, and fun working environment for staff who are often away from home for the first time.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to work in a meaningful, outdoor setting where your work supports the joy and growth of hundreds of campers and staff.
  • Build lifelong friendships and experience the energy of camp culture.
  • Housing and meals provided during the summer season.
  • Seasonal flexibility: perfect for culinary professionals, educators, retirees, or anyone looking for a summer adventure.
