About The Position

Under the direction of the Food Service Director, the Kitchen Manager is a key leadership position and is directly responsible for the successful operation of culinary services. This role will oversee all culinary operations within the senior living Assisted Living kitchen, including meal planning, hands on cooking, preparation, presentation, and service. Working closely with the nutrition team, you will develop and implement menus that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our patients and residents, while also focusing on flavor, creativity, and culinary excellence. Your leadership and expertise will ensure that our culinary team contributes to the overall health, healing, satisfaction, and recovery of patients and residents.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in similar role
  • ServSafe Manager Certification
  • Texas Food Handler Card
  • Ability to provide documents for work authorization. We utilize E-Verify, an online system that allows us to confirm the eligibility of our employees to work in the United States.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen, state specific.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in culinary arts preferred
  • Hospital or Senior Living experience preferred - familiarity with puree food, Therapeutic Diets / Modified Diets is a plus but not mandatory
  • Certified Dietary Manager certification is preferred, or you need to be willing to study and take the test within your first year of employment.
  • Passion for REAL Food principles and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the kitchen through hands-on management, working alongside the team and stepping into any role as needed.
  • Support menu planning and execute high-quality food preparation with strong retail presentation and visual appeal.
  • Supervise, train, and develop kitchen staff, fostering positive employee relations and a collaborative culture.
  • Ensure consistent execution, quality, and presentation across all dishes.
  • Assist with inventory, ordering, and budget management, with a strong focus on cost control and waste reduction.
  • Maintain full compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and food safety regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, residents, and leadership—welcoming feedback and addressing questions or concerns.
  • Coordinate with vendors to support smooth kitchen operations and supply consistency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
