About The Position

The position of Kitchen Helper/Server assists with the preparation and distribution of food items for consumption by students and school personnel; maintaining kitchen facility in a sanitary condition.. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assists with the responsibility for the security of foods and supplies, along with checking that all equipment is in working condition and notifies the appropriate authority when repairs are needed. Prepares and delivers fresh fruit and vegetable snacks to students. Assists planning, preparation, and serving of food. Assists and follows all current sanitation and food safety standards and regulations; maintaining neat, clean, safe and sanitized food service areas. Assist with the supervision of student meal service to ensure that all regulatory requirements are met. Assists with making sure meals are served on time and never delayed due to incomplete preparation activities. Assists with the inventory of all foods, supplies, and equipment. Assists with receiving all deliveries, checking all invoices, receipts. Attend in service and/or safety meetings as required. Other job duties as assigned by the Head Cook and/or Principal.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess current Food Handler’s Card or have the ability to obtain required.
• Experience with the use of a computer.
• Ability to work successfully with students, staff, parents, and community members.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions and adapt to changing situations.
• Maintains an attitude of flexibility when dealing with teammates, students and building staff.
• Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.
• Ability to regularly walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, and pull.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of food preparation experience preferred.
• Knowledge of State Health Food Regulations preferred.
