About The Position

This position is in the Kitchen Department. The Kitchen Director accomplishes the mission of T Bar M by leading the kitchen staff (Kitchen Assistant Director, Cooks, & Staff) in the preparation, cooking, and cleanup of the meals in the spirit and attitude of T Bar M (exciting, encouraging & enthusiastic). They also oversee the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining rooms. This position will execute the food service at T Bar M with a ministerial heart and an attitude of excellency.

  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn our registration and booking system, CircuiTree
  • High School or equivalent
  • Previous cooking experience preferred
  • Director will need to have or obtain a Food Manager Certification

Responsibilities

  • Interview, Hire, Train, Develop Staff, and Build Team
  • Ability to build and manage a team while valuing each employee
  • Ability to spiritually lead a team, help them with goals, and care for personal development
  • Be able to clearly communicate expectations, desires, and standards with all staff verbally and in writing
  • Creates weekly schedules for all staff
  • Exemplifies servant leadership and the ability to minister to guests, and fellow staff
  • Be able to lovingly engage our guests and serve them unselfishly
  • Plan the meals for the groups and campers coming to T Bar M in collaboration with the Retreat Coordinators and Camp Directors
  • Take into account dietary requirements
  • Order food according to menu needs
  • Execute the preparation and cooking of the meal plan laid out
  • Facilitate collaboration with the Assistant Kitchen Director and Kitchen Cooks to prepare meals
  • Provide recipes and order necessary ingredients
  • Prep various ingredients such as meat and vegetables
  • Properly storing food items at appropriate temperatures
  • Manage a kitchen that adheres strictly to rules regarding food safety
  • Maintain a kitchen culture in accordance with the T Bar M Core Values
  • Clean kitchen and dining spaces
  • Manage the cleanliness of the kitchen spaces after cooking each meal and ensure the prep area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitized at the end of the shift
  • Manage the cleanliness of the dining room space after each meal
  • Be willing and lead in performing a variety of cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and polishing
  • Manage breakout spaces for groups in a timely and organized way
  • Brew coffee, tea or hot water for guests meeting spaces
  • Restock breakout spaces with cups, creamers, sugar, etc.
  • Deliver items to breakout spaces
  • Manage the cleanliness of breakout spaces
  • Assist in setting yearly budgets with the Retreats Director
  • Consistently tracks spending to ensure it is within budget
  • Looks for opportunities to save money by testing other vendors and products
  • Protect equipment and make sure there are no inadequacies in the kitchen and dining rooms
  • Notify superiors on any damages, deficits, and disturbances
  • Maintain the stocking levels of food, supplies, & chemicals and order more on a needed basis
  • Able to minister to guests and fellow staff, engaging with, speaking with, and serving them lovingly and unselfishly
  • Deal with reasonable complaints/requests with professionalism and patience
  • May require additional duties as identified by the Senior Director of Discipleship for property care
  • Assist in contributing to and helping achieve annual ministry goals set by leadership
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing tasks as needed
