About The Position

The Spring is seeking a motivated and dependable Kitchen Assistant for the weekends from 9am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday. The Spring is a faith-based service provider, shelter, and advocacy organization for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking.
The Kitchen Assistant prepares and serves preplanned meals, maintains a clean and sanitary environment, and ensures a welcoming, respectful space for guests. This role assists with food preparation, cooking, serving, labeling, and storing meals according to established menus and food safety guidelines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least one year of experience in a commercial kitchen or food service environment
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Lift up to 40 pounds
• Communicate effectively and professionally
• Demonstrate reliability and strong attention to food safety standards, including allergen awareness, temperature control, sanitation, and proper food storage
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to sign The Spring's Statement of Faith
• Must be able to pass a 7-year background check

Responsibilities

• Maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen, dining areas, and equipment
• Following all health and safety regulations
• Monitoring inventory using proper labeling and rotation methods
• Restocking supplies
• Promptly reporting maintenance or safety concerns
• Providing guidance to volunteers
• Attending required trainings
• Maintaining a current Food Handler's Certificate
