About The Position

Kitchen Assistant - Fairbanks, AK (Housing not Provided) Service Excellence. Performance. Integrity. Teamwork. Consistency. Innovation. Our team supports a combined fleet of ships sailing to Alaska each summer, operating lodges and hotels, luxury motor coaches and the largest domed rail cars in the world. Our guests experience both luxury and adventure that is truly unmatched. Our Fairbanks Westmark Hotel and Conference Center team is looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our Food & Beverage team. Where would we be without you, the Heart of the House? You set the tone for a safe and enjoyable experience for all team members and our guests.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years is required.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Participates in HAP's sustainability program, aka 'Sustain Alaska & the Yukon', and efforts by actively recycling (where available), reducing waste, and educating guests about our commitment to the environment.
  • Participate in HAP's safety culture to ensure a safe workplace for all team members and a safe vacation experience for all guests.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to regularly lift a minimum of 10-15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, chemical instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to prioritize work, maintain attention to time constraints, while working in a team or group environment.
  • Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures and guidelines including all company health and safety standards.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and employees and problem solve.
  • Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for minimum of 8 hours per day.

Responsibilities

  • To ensure that guests receive clean and spotless china, silverware and glassware.
  • To provide the cooks, server assistants, bartenders and servers with support and assistance.
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness of kitchen facilities.
