About The Position

Performs a variety of kitchen duties such as food preparation, cooking, and serving meals for residents in shelter, as well as to provide crisis intervention and support shelter operations.

Requirements

Proven prep experience, including experience as prep cook is required
Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
Knowledge of industry’s best practices, proper sanitation procedures, and food safety guidelines
Demonstrates ability to read and write English and ability to perform basic math computations
Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Federal Bureau of Investigations).

Nice To Haves

Some cooking experience is preferred
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with diverse populations. Ability to model open communication, fair and equitable treatment, management of conflicts and work in team structure.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve meals according to daily prep sheets, recipes, and food safety standards, including proper labeling, storage, temperature logging, and FIFO rotation.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, dining, and service areas through dishwashing, stocking, and completion of daily and weekly cleaning checklists.
Support receiving, dating, and storing food deliveries as directed.
Assist with shelter operations, including: providing shelter coverage, crisis intervention, safety, transportation, conflict resolution, cleaning responsibilities, and provide daily survivor engagement.
Complete timely and accurate documentation in accordance with agency policy.
Represent Hope and Healing Survivor Resource Center by participating in community activities, coalitions and taskforce groups as requested or assigned by supervisor.
Complies with agency policies and procedures, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
