About The Position

The Kit Assembler position is located in the Kit Assembly department at LaMotte Company in Chestertown, MD. The role involves preparing test kit boxes, assembling test kits, and performing various production tasks as specified by written instructions and diagrams. The Kit Assembler will work closely with team members and is expected to follow detailed instructions accurately while maintaining a clean and organized work area. The position requires physical capabilities such as transporting up to 30 pounds and good dexterity.

Requirements

• Must be able to read, understand, and follow detailed instructions accurately.
• Ability to transport up to 30 pounds.
• Experience using a glue gun.
• Ability to work in close proximity to team members.

Responsibilities

• Prepares test kit boxes by assembling/taping cardboard boxes and mailers, or gluing foam into cases.
• Assembles test kits and refill kits as specified by written instructions and diagrams.
• Assembles subassemblies used in test kits.
• Uses Pick Lists to pick material for kits to be assembled.
• Keys in Pick Lists in the computer using Kinetic software and basic use of Excel spreadsheets.
• Assists in other Production Department activities as needed, including participating in lean manufacturing team activities.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area and follows company safety initiatives.
• Rotates to and works in other Production Departments as needed.
• Participates in all of the department’s lean activities, including lean events, kaizen, 5-S program, DMAICs, etc.
• Complies with all Company policies (i.e. personnel, safety, etc.).
• Performs other duties as assigned.
