About the position

The Systems Administrator (SA) plays a crucial role in the KIPP NYC Technology team, responsible for supporting the Senior System Administrator in delivering high-quality technology services across the KIPP NYC Region. This position focuses on operational excellence, continuous improvement, and innovation, ensuring that the technology infrastructure is secure, reliable, and aligned with the organization's strategic goals. The SA will work collaboratively with various teams and external vendors to enhance technology tools and processes, contributing to the overall mission of KIPP NYC.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Systems Administrator in delivering high-performance technology infrastructure.
  • Evaluate and approve Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) patches.
  • Maintain server security patches and configurations.
  • Configure network printers and manage DHCP scopes.
  • Manage DNS configurations and content filtering.
  • Support software installation and troubleshooting.
  • Create and maintain a script repository (PowerShell / bash / batch).
  • Work with the Senior Systems Administrator to create virtual machines (VMs).
  • Manage renewal of SSL certificates and assist with MDM management.
  • Troubleshoot user account issues and manage Active Directory maintenance.
  • Support administration of intranet site needs and wireless configurations.
  • Install, replace, and upgrade hardware as needed.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation.
  • Assist with security audits and vulnerability assessments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer information systems, or equivalent experience/certifications.
  • Minimum 3+ years of work experience in a tech-related field, preferably in schools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with data science experience a plus.
  • Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve technical issues and provide outstanding customer service.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop productive working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Continuous-improvement mindset with creativity and versatility.
