About The Position

A probationary tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor is available in the Department of Kinesiology. The department seeks a dynamic candidate with expertise in Rehabilitation Science and/or Exercise Physiology who is committed to teaching excellence and to maintaining an active research program involving both undergraduate and graduate students. This appointment carries an initial two-year probationary appointment beginning with the 2026/2027 academic year with a start date of August 18, 2026.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate in Rehabilitation Science, Exercise Physiology, or related area by August 18, 2026 (ABD applicants may be considered but must complete the terminal degree by the start date).

  • Successful college/university teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Evidence of professional and scholarly activity and commitment to student/faculty research at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Ability to teach core program courses and/or courses serving multiple department programs.
  • Experience in supervising clinical students, if applicable.
  • Experience working in clinical, commercial, worksite, and/or community health/fitness settings.
  • Professional certification through nationally recognized organizations (ACSM, NSCA, or NASM).
  • Demonstrated commitment to support and enhance the diversity and cultural and global awareness of students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Teach up to an equivalent of 12 credits per semester/24 per year of courses in the area of expertise (e.g. Evidenced-Based Practices/Research Methods, Exercise Physiology, Fitness Assessment/Exercise Prescription, Clinical Populations, Manual Therapy Techniques, etc.) as a faculty member in the department.
  • Advise undergraduate and graduate students within the Rehabilitation Science and/or Master's of Exercise Physiology program.
  • Engage in scholarly activities through collaboration with students and other faculty members within and outside the department.
  • Provide service to the department, college, university, profession, and community.
