About The Position

World Relief seeks two Kinders Camp Teachers to co-facilitate WR’s annual summer camp 2026, in Kent, WA, for kindergarteners from refugee and immigrant families. The Kinders Camp runs through July 7-31, 2026, from 9:30am-1:30pm at our partner Church location in Kent. The Kinders Camp teacher will be responsible for planning and teaching lessons crafted to build and strengthen key kindergarten readiness skills, field trip coordination and oversight, classroom management, administering child and parent assessments, and parent and volunteer engagement. This is a temporary part-time position (25 hours per week) funded through a grant agreement until August 7, 2026, and contingent upon funding extension.

Requirements

  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief.
  • At least 2 years of formal experience working with young children in an early learning program, ideally English language learners.
  • Associate degree (AA) or two years of college in a related field (i.e., education, child development, school counseling, TESOL).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • King County Food Worker Card.
  • Driving required; Valid Driver’s License required, passing motor vehicle background check and any additional background screening required by WRWW.
  • Demonstrated ability to work sensitively and effectively in cross-cultural settings.

Responsibilities

  • Refine the curriculum and schedule to meet program goals and student needs. Work collaboratively with the teaching team, including the Programs Coordinator, using a team-teaching model.
  • Submit supplies list to coordinator according to established timeline.
  • Prepare materials for STEM and process-based art projects before the camp, including examples for children to follow.
  • Maintain clean and orderly learning spaces.
  • Steward learning materials and camp host facility carefully.
  • Administering assessments, and other data and reporting tasks, including completing or compiling day-to-day paperwork.
  • Supervise and facilitate play-based learning activities for up to 30 camp students who are entering kindergarten in September 2026, including large group instruction, STEM and art activities, outdoor play, and small group targeted learning.
  • Supervise lunch and snack times, supporting and modeling appropriate mealtime behavior.
  • Assist in planning and facilitating outdoor activities, field trips, and community partner visits.
  • Support with any transportation needs of families including driving them to and from the camp.
  • Create a safe, engaging, language-rich, healing-centered learning environment ensuring each child receives individualized care and support.
  • Collaborate with the team in providing positive support with behavioral or developmental needs and goals for children, in partnership with parents/caregivers.
  • Review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or other disability service plans and collaborate with teaching team and parents on ensuring quality care.
  • Provide leadership and support to volunteers and interns supporting the camp activities and students.
  • Comply with all agency policies and protocols.
  • Other related tasks as assigned.
