The Bridgeport Public Schools is seeking a Kindergarten Teacher for the 2025 - 2026 school year at Walterville School. The position requires establishing and adjusting instructional goals and objectives to reflect district and school goals, as well as the needs of students. The teacher will design lessons that promote problem-solving, creativity, and communication skills, while maintaining standards for behavior that foster self-discipline and positive relationships among students. Ongoing professional development in content area and pedagogy is expected, along with planning learning activities that address individual differences among students. The teacher will also develop, administer, and evaluate assessments that reflect a balance of content knowledge and problem-solving skills, monitor student progress, and involve parents and community members in the educational process. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

  • Establishes and adjusts instructional goals and objectives to reflect district/school goals and student needs.
  • Designs lessons that provide opportunities for problem-solving, creativity, and communication skills.
  • Establishes and maintains standards for behavior that foster student self-discipline and positive relationships.
  • Commits to ongoing professional development in content area and pedagogy.
  • Plans learning activities to address individual differences among students.
  • Develops, administers, and evaluates quality formative and summative assessments.
  • Monitors and evaluates students' progress in relation to curriculum policies and planned goals.
  • Encourages and maintains the involvement of parents and community members in support of instruction.
  • Involves parents in the assessment of their children's progress and needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Connecticut certification-Elementary (001, 002, 003, 008, 013); master's degree preferred.
  • Three years' successful teaching experience in an urban setting preferred.
  • Experience in the use of educational technology.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
  • Salary range: $50,825 - $105,070, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
