Job SummaryA Catholic School Kindergarten Teacher is responsible for providing a nurturing, faith-centered learning environment that supports the spiritual, academic, social, and emotional development of young children. The teacher integrates Catholic teachings and values into daily instruction while following the school curriculum and early childhood education best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field.
  • Valid state teaching certification (where required).
  • Knowledge of early childhood development and teaching strategies.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
  • Practicing Catholic preferred or willingness to support Catholic teachings.
  • Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons in:
  • Early literacy and reading
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social studies
  • Religion
  • Integrate Catholic faith, prayer, and moral values into classroom activities and instruction.
  • Foster students’ spiritual development through participation in prayer, liturgy, and religious celebrations.
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and structured classroom environment.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods such as storytelling, play-based learning, music, and hands-on activities.
  • Assess student progress and maintain accurate records of development and achievement.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and behavior.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, fellow teachers, and parish staff.
  • Support school and parish events such as Mass, religious holidays, and community activities.
  • Maintain classroom discipline consistent with Christian values and school policies.
