About The Position

Legacy Charter School is a high-performing public charter school that holistically educates 500 scholars in pre-k through 8th grade in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood. Our mission is to create an outstanding center for teaching and learning for children and their families that will recognize and nurture the full potential of every child, provide a foundation for a college education, and educate our scholars to be creative and critical thinkers and responsible citizens in school, at home, and in the broader community. Our kindergarten teacher provides our scholars with rigorous academic experiences that prepare them for success with grade-level and above content through consistent, joyful, rigorous social-emotional and cognitive learning experiences. Our teachers create well-planned lessons that are culturally relevant, data-informed, and rooted in engaging pedagogy. Our educators believe in our mission, work with their teams and colleagues, build relationships with scholars and their families, and focus deeply on work that leads to academic growth and success, as well as creating a learning environment where all scholars can thrive.

Requirements

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
• Two years or more of full-time teaching experience in an urban setting.
• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or equivalent.
