Housed in a beautifully reimagined former armory, ECC blends rich history with joyful, purposeful early learning. For years, ECC has served south Oklahoma City families with deep commitment and pride. Today, many of our current students are the children of former Santa Fe South Saints—a testament to the trust, legacy, and generational impact of our work. At ECC, we believe the earliest years matter most. Kindergarten is not just a grade level—it is the foundation for literacy, numeracy, identity, and confidence. Position Overview The Kindergarten Teacher at ECC is responsible for creating a structured, joyful, and academically rigorous classroom that sets students on a trajectory toward long-term success. This teacher builds foundational reading, writing, and math skills while nurturing social-emotional development and independence. This role is ideal for a mission-driven educator who believes all children can achieve at high levels and understands the urgency and importance of early literacy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Valid Oklahoma teaching certification, or willingness/eligibility to obtain (Early Childhood or Elementary Education preferred)
  • Strong understanding of early literacy and numeracy development
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high expectations for young learners
  • Commitment to serving south Oklahoma City families

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging instruction aligned to the Oklahoma Academic Standards across core subject areas, with particular focus on early literacy and numeracy
  • Build strong foundational reading skills, including phonics, fluency, comprehension, and written expression, using evidence-based instructional practices
  • Actively participate in Santa Fe South’s instructional coaching model by seeking, receiving, and implementing feedback to continuously strengthen practice
  • Plan and internalize lessons with fidelity, including preparing materials, anticipating misconceptions, and rehearsing instructional strategies
  • Collaborate closely with grade-level teammates, instructional coaches, and campus leadership to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Use formative and summative assessments to provide targeted instruction, interventions, and enrichment
  • Establish a structured, joyful, and inclusive classroom culture with clear academic and behavioral expectations
  • Support students’ social-emotional growth and development through consistent routines, relationship-building, and responsive classroom practices
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with students, families, and colleagues, and communicate student progress regularly with families
  • Contribute to campus-wide initiatives, professional learning communities, and the continued growth of the ECC
