About The Position

A Kindergarten teacher will be expected to create a classroom environment that fosters learning, personal growth, and a sense of belonging. The teacher establishes an effective rapport with students; motivates them to develop essential academic, social, and emotional skills; and builds positive relationships with families and colleagues to support student success.

Responsibilities

Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, and other subjects to pupils in a classroom, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
Uses a variety of instructional strategies and maintains a working knowledge of educational technology to enhance classroom learning.
Translates lesson plans into engaging learning experiences to make the most effective use of instructional time.
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior using positive behavior supports and proactive classroom management strategies to promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
Creates a classroom culture that supports students' social-emotional development by fostering empathy, resilience, self-regulation, and positive peer interactions.
Evaluates students' academic and social growth, maintains appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
Communicates regularly with parents and guardians through conferences, written correspondence, and other means to discuss student progress and share information about the school program.
Designs and maintains an engaging, developmentally appropriate learning environment with functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
Maintains professional competence through participation in district-provided in-service activities and self-directed professional growth opportunities.
