About The Position

Kindergarten Teacher - Long Term Substitute Meadow Brook Elementary Duration : Starting in February through end of 2025-2026 school year Reports To : Building Principal Salary : $120/day first 10 days, $130/day on 11 th day and thereafter Job Summary: This position is part of the Chinese Immersion program and provides English Language Arts and Social Studies grade level content to kindergarten students and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential in an elementary learning environment. (There is no requirement to have any Mandarin Chinese language understanding.) Requirements

  • State of Michigan Teacher Certification Elementary K-5 All Subjects (K-8 All Subjects in Self-Contained Classroom)
  • ZG endorsement required
  • Experience with math and literacy essential instructional practices and workshop structure

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Use relevant technology to support instruction.
  • Successfully educate students on state and district standards.
  • Plan and deliver effective instruction aligned with the district-provided curriculum.
  • Assess students' proficiency levels, adapt instruction accordingly, and track progress over time.
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Foster respect and understanding among students of all backgrounds.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students as needed.
  • Develop detailed, accurate and concise lesson plans for each subject area; plan and provide appropriate educational supplemental activities to meet both group and individual needs of all children within the classroom.
  • Collaborate with special education staff as needed to provide students with individualized education programs (IEPs) appropriate accommodations and supplementary aids.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress to parents/guardians.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices.
  • Attend staff meetings and collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional strategies.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  • Adhere to FERPA regulations and district policy when working with confidential data.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
