About The Position

University Instructors (UI) is seeking dynamic face-to-face Lead Instructors with a passion for supporting students in grades K-12. In this role, under the direction of the University Instructors’ team, the Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating educational environment where children can develop their academic, social, and emotional skills. This role involves planning and delivering high-quality instruction, assessing student progress, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning experience. University Instructors partners with schools to provide students with purposeful learning experiences led by inspirational educators. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Math, Science, Social Science or a related field
  • Must meet the Content Knowledge standards required for a provisional teaching license; valid teaching certification in education preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in a school setting.
  • Strong understanding of child development and education best practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Passion for teaching and a commitment to fostering a love of learning in students.
  • Be eligible for a provisional state teaching license in the state of Virginia
  • Be local to the area
  • Two years of experience leading instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Development and Instruction: Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the school's curriculum and educational standards.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active learning and participation.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods and instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Integrate technology and other innovative tools to enhance learning experiences.
  • Other Duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or School Administrator(s)
  • Student Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback regarding academic performance and behavior.
  • Utilize assessment data to inform instructional practices and interventions.
  • Other Duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or School Administrator(s)
  • Classroom Management: Establish and enforce clear classroom rules and expectations to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
  • Address and manage behavioral issues promptly and effectively.
  • Create a supportive and respectful classroom culture that fosters mutual respect and cooperation.
  • Other Duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or School Administrator(s)
  • Collaboration and Professional Development: Work closely with colleagues, including assistant teachers, special education staff, and administration, to support student learning and development.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and advancements.
  • Lead or contribute to school committees, events, and initiatives as needed.
  • Submit records related to attendance, student progress, and other UI program requirements on time.
  • Other Duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or School Administrator(s)
  • Attend evening, virtual ILC meetings
