The Kiln Systems Technician plays a crucial role in managing the material handling system within an automated manufacturing facility. This position involves monitoring and adjusting various equipment such as hoppers, screens, and conveyors to minimize downtime caused by blockages from materials like rock and mud. The technician is responsible for overseeing the control parameters of pyro-processing unit operations to ensure that quality, safety, and environmental targets are met. Continuous root cause analysis is a key part of the role, as is directing the activities of hourly employees to optimize the manufacturing process. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Kiln Systems Technician must comply with all company, state, and governmental environmental, health, and safety regulations. Effective communication and team relations are essential, as the technician will provide coaching and development to employees, resolve issues, and enforce plant safety rules. The role also requires collaboration with Continuous Improvement personnel to identify and implement process enhancements. The technician will monitor the automated system to ensure the kiln receives adequate stone feed for maximum production and will control fuel consumption levels to maintain even heat distribution. Regular quality control tests are performed to ensure that the product meets company standards and customer specifications. The technician is expected to maintain accurate daily reporting of operational parameters and assist team members with equipment maintenance as needed.
