Provides a full range of substance use and mental health disorder therapeutic services for children, adolescents and their families. Primary duties include counseling children, adolescents and their families with much of this taking place at various school sites. In addition to counseling, the position also provides clinical guidance and support to after school site to support students, staff and families with trauma informed focus and linkage to local resources. Performs regular therapist functions during school vacations and summer months. Evaluates the client's situation and their ability to deal with their problem; conducts an in-depth clinical interview (comprehensive clinical assessment) to determine psycho-social history, formulates assessment and treatment plan/person-centered plan; provides ongoing monitoring, assessment and update of the treatment plan and crisis plan(as needed). Updates comprehensive clinical assessment as needed or once every 12 months to ensure continued service delivery can be rendered. Provide individual psychotherapy sessions and various groups in the school setting. Maintains regular contact with the parent/guardian of each client. Provides individual, group and family counseling and activities adapted or specifically designed for persons with co-occurring disorders, mental illness, and substance abuse/dependence. The caseload includes children and adolescents in need of SUD/MH treatment. The counseling is best characterized as individual, group and family, utilizing current practice methods for substance use disorder and/or mental health disorder treatment, and is individualized. Engages client families for the completion of all required intake documentation for service initiation and delivery. Connects with school based referral sources, and communicates with Behavioral Specialists and other members of childs treatment team. Assesses and assists in de-escalation of crisis situations at site(s) served: completes referred threat assessments to assess for suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, and childs level of safety while coordinating services with the family and school to ensure best outcomes for clients served. Provides case management and community support to arrange, link or integrate multiple services as well as assessment and reassessment of the clients need for services. Informs the client about benefits, community resources, and services; arranges for clients to receive services; and coordinates care with other service providers within the treatment team including: psychiatric provider, Intensive In Home, Family Preservation, and Child First services. Client may be linked to outside services or higher level of care services as needed. Works with emergency referrals, conducts community educational workshops, provides professional services to referrals from the judicial system and statewide institutions. Provides skills based and supportive group and individual interventions to students at after-school site Collaboration with staff at site(s) served and provides training to build staff resiliency and trauma informed interventions Subject to inside environmental conditions and exposed to fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gasses or poor ventilation and subject to work in close quarters.
