About The Position

The Kids Corner Assistant is a part-time position responsible for providing a safe and fun environment in which both children and parents feel comfortable. An employee in this position supervises children in a childcare setting at the Summit on the Park.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 16 years old.
• Must be able to possess Basic First Aid and CPR (Adult and Infant) certifications within 60 days of employment.
• Previous childcare (babysitting) experience is required.
• Must feel comfortable working with children between the ages of three months and eleven years.
• Ability to supervise small children compassionately and effectively.
• Strong organizational skills required.
• Ability to clearly communicate procedures, problems, and policies with fellow employees and the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
• Must be willing to conform to department uniform policy.
• Ability to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends.
• This is an "At-Will" position: Work assignments and hours are scheduled based on availability, division requirements and within the confines of the budget.
• Schedules and work hours are not guaranteed and are subject to change at any time due to division needs, budgeting constraints and staff availability.

• Prior experience working with children from three months to eleven years old is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for creating an inviting, friendly and comfortable atmosphere for children from three months to eleven years of age.
• Ensures a safe environment for all participants and visitors.
• Promotes Leisure Services Core Values and provides excellent customer service, including, but not limited to, greeting and interacting with participants and families in a positive and friendly manner.
• Responsible for the accuracy and maintenance of the check-in/check-out form.
• Leads children of various ages, up to eleven years of age, in games and other group activities.
• Enforces all childcare policies as well as general building policies.
• Sterilizes and cleans all toys and materials at the end of each day.
• Attends staff meetings as scheduled and assigned.
• Performs other assigned duties as required.
