About The Position

The Kidnetics Speech Therapist position involves planning and implementing specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of speech language pathology. The therapist will participate in operational and clinical functions for the department, hospital, and corporation, providing direction and assistance to Clinical Fellowship Year Candidates, Speech Language Pathologists, Speech Pathology Students, and Therapy Aides in patient care. Compliance with laws and regulations of appropriate state and federal agencies and Joint Commission guidelines is essential. An advanced level of clinical and interpersonal skills is required, along with behaviors that support the purpose statements of the department and hospital.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • SC SLP Licensure from the Board of SLP Examiners or SLP Compact Commission.
  • BLS certification.
  • Demonstrated clinical competency based on patient's age.
  • Effective at data conversion.

Responsibilities

  • Perform appropriate initial speech therapy evaluations and re-evaluations and design a speech therapy plan of care.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of diagnoses/conditions seen in speech therapy.
  • Select, perform, and interpret the results of ST examinations of speech/language, cognition-communication, oral motor, voice, and swallowing.
  • Accurately perform and interpret standardized evaluations.
  • Identify actual or potential problems impacting the ST treatment plan.
  • Establish specific treatment goals based on initial assessment results.
  • Design treatment plans appropriate for the patient's age, educational level, and cultural background.
  • Revise treatment plans as appropriate.
  • Implement and manage a comprehensive treatment plan and participate in patient discharge planning.
  • Demonstrate advanced working knowledge of various Speech Therapy techniques.
  • Interact regularly with others involved in the patient's care.
  • Demonstrate awareness and use of proper safety measures.
  • Reassess patient status in response to treatment and goal achievement.
  • Provide information regarding discharge and follow-up services.
  • Participate in patient and family education processes.
  • Provide education and training to patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Complete the Plan of Care and Patient/Family Education Documentation.
  • Document all aspects of assessment, planning, treatment, and discharge in the medical record.
  • Attend staff meetings, team meetings, and mandatory in-services.
  • Assist with care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies.
  • Complete charge/productivity documentation.
  • Provide supervision/mentorship to Speech Language Pathologists, Clinical Fellowship Year Candidates, and Therapy Aides.
  • Participate in student orientation and provide effective learning experiences.
  • Meet team/department productivity standards.
  • Establish annual goals related to corporate and department initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
