About The Position

The Education and Collections Internship at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania offers a unique opportunity for students to gain practical experience in public history. Interns will work across the Education, Visitor Services, and Collections Departments, contributing to the museum's mission of sharing Pennsylvania's heritage. This 10-week internship allows candidates to engage with the public, assist in collections care, and develop a special project aligned with their academic interests.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university during the internship.
• Must be majoring, minoring, or have a concentration in History, Anthropology, Education, Museum Studies, or a closely related subject.
• Must have a GPA of 2.5 or above.
• Must be able to report to Strasburg, Pennsylvania during the internship dates.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the handling and care of museum objects and collections under the guidance of the Museum Curator.
• Create inventories of archival and collections material in the museum's online database.
• Conduct education programs and interpret collections in Rolling Stock Hall.
• Assist with the Barons and Builders Summer Camp, engaging with children and families.
• Develop a special project based on academic interests and goals with mentor guidance.

Benefits
