The goal is to transform DGIC into the #1 ice cream brand, leveraging nearly 100 years of U.S. experience and a portfolio of brands like Häagen-Dazs, Drumstick, Dreyer’s & Edy’s. Headquartered in Walnut Creek, the company is investing in significant capital expansions for Operations and Supply Chain, transforming work processes to be agile, accelerate growth, and elevate quality. The team is focused on frozen treats, encouraging innovation and quick decision-making to deliver the best ice cream experience. The Key Operator/Bakery role is crucial for the effective and consistent running of an assigned production line, aiming to achieve production targets through process interaction. This involves a good understanding of machinery to ensure desired results in Quality, Safety, Hygiene, and Waste, by having knowledge of the assigned machines, processes, and products, with attention to detail and operating within required parameters.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Aptitude for automated mechanical processes with good troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, math and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work multiple shifts and/or schedules
  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience

Nice To Haves

  • One-year related experience

Responsibilities

  • Ensure your machines are clean but not damaged by excess water, always organized and operating under discipline
  • Operate to standard operating procedures in areas assigned
  • Have basic ice cream knowledge, understanding the "WHY", not just the “HOW”
  • Ensure limited water is used when cleaning with the "clean as you go" principle
  • Correct use, storage and set up of all equipment
  • Ensure effective hand overs with the maintenance team and next shift, all faults and issues reported
  • Drive the production process to ensure that the products produced meet customer specification, quality and food safety
  • Ensure production meets targeted outputs through effective control of the manufacturing process
  • Communicate effectively with the entire team
  • Ensure health and safety requirements are fully met and a positive safety culture is maintained throughout the line
  • Ensure you walk the talk always using “looking eyes”, attend to the issues as and when they happen
  • Promote the Froneri culture of employees being owners rather than just employees
  • Follow the principle of "would I do this to my home?"
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Manage the machines in your area of responsibility
  • Read and learn about the proper use and running of your machines
  • Understand user manuals for your machines
  • Maintain Health and Safety standards

  • Manage machine tools and ancillary equipment
