About The Position

Sun Gro Horticulture is seeking a dedicated individual to plan, organize, and control the total selling effort of assigned Key Accounts. The role involves managing pricing effectively through Finance to maximize profitability, achieving sales budget objectives, and maintaining effective communication with key account contacts. The successful candidate will also control and monitor sales expense budgets, collaborate with internal departments for product development and marketing needs, and act as the company's sales representative in various settings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 3+ years of management experience in horticulture or a related field.
  • Adequate management and sales experience to perform necessary sales functions.
  • Professional knowledge and skills with a comprehensive technical industry background.
  • Proven record of achievements in horticulture or sales-related activities.
  • Experience selling and/or managing relationships with national retailers is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver combined product group sales in product portfolio according to approved sales budgets and marketing plans.
  • Implement and control approved sales/marketing programs and procedures.
  • Work with sales processes through The Demand Teams including Portfolio Management, Tech Management, Customer Care, Credit, and Production.
  • Initiate, monitor, and recommend realistic and measurable sales programs with a timetable for accomplishment.
  • Control personal expense budget and manage expenses in accordance with company policy.
  • Achieve new account and distribution objectives as assigned.
  • Maintain sales records through Salesforce.
  • Complete field reports and maintain records of assigned Area activities.
  • Attend scheduled sales/operations meetings and calls.
  • Communicate with supervisors about factors affecting accounts and collaborate with other departments.
  • Participate in regional and national meetings to plan and analyze business strategies.
  • Attend trade events such as shows, seminars, and associations.
  • Maintain excellent business relationships with key account decision makers.
  • Handle customer requests, problems, or special situations relating to product and service performance.
  • Exercise proper care in handling company materials and assets.
  • Submit forecasts, sales reports, and expense reports timely.
  • Establish realistic C&R achievement levels based on company overall C&R’s Process.
  • Prioritize safety in all activities.
  • Maintain a professional appearance in all functions.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
