Job Function Reporting into the Business Manager, Coatings Sales, the Key Account Manager will work remotely in Northeast Ohio or Western Pennsylvania and be based out of Ashtabula, Ohio. This position plays a crucial role in managing strategic relationships with high-value customers. Their focus is on sustaining and growing long-term partnerships while ensuring customer satisfaction and maximizing revenue.

  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key customers.
  • Act as the main point of contact for strategic customers.
  • Understand the customer’s business model, supply chain, and specific chemical needs.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell or cross-sell products and services.
  • Achieve sales targets and contribute to overall revenue growth.
  • Develop tailored proposals and pricing strategies.
  • Provide technical advice and support regarding coatings products.
  • Liaise with R&D and technical teams to meet customer requirements.
  • Stay updated on product innovations, applications, and regulatory compliance.
  • Create and execute account plans based on customer strategy and market intelligence.
  • Forecast sales, identify risks and opportunities, and report on performance metrics.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with customers.
  • Work closely with internal departments such as supply chain, customer service, logistics, product management, and finance.
  • Ensure seamless order fulfillment, on-time delivery, and issue resolution.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity within the chemical and material solutions sector.
  • Provide feedback to product development and product management teams.
  • Suggest improvements or new products based on customer feedback and market demand.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, prices, and contract renewals.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and safety standards (e.g., REACH, OSHA, GHS).
  • Maintain CRM systems with updated customer information and interaction history.
  • Prepare reports on sales performance, customer satisfaction, and account health.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in business, chemistry, biology, or engineering.
  • A minimum of 5+ years demonstrated experience in sales managing key accounts or related area required.
  • Strong understanding and experience of sales techniques and support systems such as CRMs (preferably Salesforce).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use statistical problem-solving skills to forecast future sales potential.
  • Ability to develop and execute business plans to support business objectives.
  • Ability to establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with other teams and workgroups.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills, business writing and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of coatings, inks and pigments is highly preferred.
