About The Position

Okie Staffing is for hiring Kettle Floor Assistants to support steel processing operations in a high-heat industrial environment. This role works directly with kettle operators to assist in heating, coating, and treating steel components.
This is a hands-on position ideal for candidates who are dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable working in physically demanding conditions.

Requirements

• Ability to lift 50–75 lbs regularly
• Comfortable working in high-heat, industrial environments
• Basic mechanical aptitude
• Ability to use hand tools, hoists, and basic measuring tools
• Strong attendance and reliable work history

Nice To Haves

• Steel manufacturing, galvanizing, smelting, or metal finishing
• Forklift or overhead crane experience
• Familiarity with industrial safety standards

Responsibilities

• Assist kettle operators with heating, melting, and coating processes
• Monitor temperature gauges, timers, and fluid levels
• Prepare kettles for operation, including cleaning and pre-heating
• Follow standard procedures to ensure proper processing times
• Perform visual inspections on finished parts
• Report defects, inconsistencies, or equipment issues
• Wear required PPE (heat-resistant gear, gloves, face shield, steel-toe boots)
• Follow OSHA and company safety protocols in high-heat environments
• Assist with safe handling of molten materials and coatings
• Perform basic cleaning, skimming, and slag removal
• Assist with minor maintenance (checking levels, tightening fittings)
• Report mechanical or operational concerns to maintenance team
