About The Position

Nassau Veterinary Clinic is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team! Our AAHA accredited six doctor practice celebrates the bond between pets and people. Founded in 1937, Nassau Veterinary Clinic is one of the oldest animal hospital in New York State. Inside our state-of-the-art facility, you will find 6 comfortable exam rooms, a surgery suite, a spacious hospital treatment area, and modern X-ray equipment. In addition, we have a grooming room, a pet training room, and an outdoor exercise area where agility classes are held. We can house 50 pets and over 20 team members dedicated to quality care! We are looking for a team player with exceptional client service and communication skills, attention to detail with a positive and compassionate attitude.

Requirements

• Have some animal experience
• Have a flexible schedule
• Are able to multi-task
• Have extreme attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Ensuring animals have fresh food and water at all times
• Cleaning animal waste, spilled food, hair, and other debris from the kennels
• Playing with and administering treatment to animals under the auspices of the veterinarian and veterinary technician
• Accompanying animals on walks, if required
• Reporting significant changes in functioning to the veterinarian and medical professional on duty.
• Disposing of trash
• Available to work mostly during morning shift daily and some public holidays and weekends
