About The Position

Cold Springs Animal Hospital is Hiring a Kennel Technician! Position Details Role: Kennel Technician Status: Full-time Salary: Negotiable and based on experience Schedule: Weekends required, Mondays and Fridays 7:30-6, Tues and Thurs half-day PMs The Kennel Technician is responsible for the daily care and comfort of boarding, hospitalized, and grooming pets. This role includes feeding, walking, cleaning, and monitoring the animals, as well as maintaining a clean and sanitary environment. The technician should demonstrate compassion, attention to detail, and the ability to handle dogs and cats of all temperaments.

Requirements

  • Reliable, compassionate, and team-oriented
  • Comfortable handling animals, including those with behavioral challenges
  • Willing to learn and follow established animal care protocols
  • Ability to handle dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments safely
  • Understanding basic equine behavior
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong observation, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings as needed
  • Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented
  • Compassionate and calm, especially in stressful situations
  • Open to feedback and eager to learn
  • Maintains a positive and respectful attitude toward coworkers, clients, and animals

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily care, including feeding, walking, and enrichment.
  • Walk dogs for exercise and elimination, clean litterboxes for cats
  • Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and common areas
  • Cleaning and stripping/resetting stalls when needed, spreading manure
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including laundry and dishes
  • Follow biosecurity and infection control protocols
  • Provide basic grooming and bathing support when needed
  • Monitor animal behavior and report concerns to veterinary staff
  • Assist with basic handling and restraint for treatments or exams
  • Administer prescribed medications or treatments under direct supervision
  • Maintain accurate records of care and behavior observations
  • Support a safe, low-stress environment for all pets
  • Assist with check-in and discharge of boarding pets
  • Provide updates to the team regarding client concerns or pet needs
  • Help maintain a welcoming and professional atmosphere for pet owners
