About The Position

A Veterinary Kennel Attendant provides daily care and supervision of animals housed at a veterinary clinic or boarding facility. The role includes tasks such as feeding, cleaning, and monitoring animals, assisting veterinary staff, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for all animals under care. The position requires a love for animals, attention to detail, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced, sometimes emotionally demanding environment.

Responsibilities

• Feed and water animals as directed by veterinary staff or clients.
• Monitor and record the behavior, physical condition, and temperament of animals in the kennel.
• Assist in administering medications (as directed by veterinarians or technicians).
• Provide grooming services (bathing, brushing, nail trimming) when needed.
• Walk dogs and provide other forms of enrichment to promote mental and physical well-being.
• Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, runs, and common areas to ensure a hygienic and safe environment.
• Ensure animals’ living spaces are free from hazards and provide proper bedding.
• Clean and maintain equipment used for animal care, such as leashes, food bowls, and toys.
• Greet clients, answer basic questions about kennel services, and relay any concerns regarding their pets' health or well-being.
• Keep owners informed about their pet's behavior and general condition during their stay.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions accurately.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact positively with clients.
