About The Position

The Chattanooga Zoo is looking for an exceptional zookeeper to join our primates team. We have a variety of primates, including chimpanzees, mangabeys, and five species of callitrichids. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in enrichment and training program implementation, including training for veterinary care behaviors. Candidate should have 4 year college degree or equivalent experience and at least 3 years of animal care experience, preferably in an AZA accredited facility. Candidates experienced with large and small primates preferred. The candidate must be able to lift, bend, and twist 50 lbs, also must be able to work in all types of weather. Responsibilities

  • day to day husbandry
  • daily record keeping
  • routine maintenance of physical area and enclosures
  • assisting in veterinary procedures and medication distribution to animals
  • implement training and enrichment programs
  • assist with special projects
  • maintain area compliance with USDA and AZA regulations and standards, including record keeping, husbandry care, training, enrichment, etc.
