About The Position

We are looking for an energetic and safety-focused Kayak Attendant to join our team. The Kayak Attendant is responsible for assisting guests with kayak rentals, launching and retrieving kayaks, ensuring the safety of all paddlers, and maintaining equipment and the launch area. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, engaging with people, and promoting water safety and recreation. Pay Rate: The rate of pay listed on job boards are auto-generated numbers. Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s actual rate of pay will be determined during the hiring process.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education - High School or GED preferred
  • CPR certifications preferred
  • Flexible schedule, weekends and holidays
  • Experience with the operation of a motorboat is preferred but not required
  • Prior experience with customer service preferred
  • Prior experience with kayaking and stand up paddle board preferred
  • Able to handle confidential information.
  • Must work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Good to Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds across short-medium distance
  • Capable of working consecutive hours without sitting down.
  • Able to perform physically demanding duties outdoors while enduring extreme heat and humidity.
  • Must be able to work on site due to daily needs of the job requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide paddle safety and general information in a friendly and courteous manner within the standards of Kiawah Island Golf Resort.
  • Handle money, maintain accurate records to include daily deposits, collect rental fees, make accurate change, and assist guests with rental form agreements.
  • Monitor launch site area, distribute life jackets to ensure proper usage, conduct water patrols if necessary, drain kayaks, clean exterior and interior of kayaks, properly maintain and clean all SUP paddle boards, follow all closing procedures.
  • Monitor all activities; keep the rental site clean, safe and orderly.
  • Report all unsafe conditions and equipment, such as paddles, life jackets, etc. to supervisor.
  • Upholds the core values and policies & procedures of the resort.
  • All other duties as assigned
