About The Position

Kampack, GA is a leading manufacturer of corrugated paper sheets and products. The Controller is to provide plant-level oversight for internal controls, support for budget and forecast development, analysis of operations performance, responsible for inventory valuation and oversight of the monthly physical inventory process for the finance team and work closely with Plant Managers in making good business decisions related to plant operations. Summary: This position has responsibility for all day-to-day financial reporting associated with the facility or facilities within the span of control. This includes responsibility for Balance Sheet and Income statements, forecasts, budgets, inventory analysis, cash management and credit and collections. Ultimately, this position has true reporting responsibility for a legitimate profit center operation or operations. The Controller will report directly to Corporate Finance. This role will have solid line responsibility for all Finance employees in the plant(s) designated. The Controller will work closely with the General Manager, Production Manager, Sales Manager, Customer Service Manager, and Human Resources in the plant. Additionally, this role requires interaction with corporate functions including Finance, Information Technology, Sales & Marketing, Procurement, and Human Resources.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of progressively more responsible financial leadership experience preferably within the corrugated industry or supporting a manufacturing site or significant operation within a company
  • At least five (5) years in a Controller or equivalent role in a company with annual revenues in excess of $50 million.
  • Strong accounting acumen with financial accounting, inventory/cost accounting, cash management, taxation and credit/collections is required.
  • Possess a strong business and financial knowledge as well as be process and results-driven.
  • Successfully leading and managing direct reports.
  • Possess the ability to ask for help and surface issues and problems quickly.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate and timely monthly financial statements.
  • Produce monthly general ledger account analysis and statistics.
  • Produce weekly financial forecasts for the current month.
  • Maintain controls over credit and collections for his/her plant.
  • Monitor aging reports to ensure that timely collection actions take place.
  • Oversee establishment of customers’ credit lines within the boundaries of company policy.
  • Produce accurate annual budgets.
  • Lead and organize monthly physical inventories including valuation.
  • Advise the General Manager on business issues.
  • Comply with all local governmental reports including property, sales and use taxes.
  • Safeguard and account for fixed assets through our internal capital expenditure reporting process.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Establish and maintain controls not covered by company policy.
  • Assist management team by supporting their departments with financial metrics and current, accurate information that allows them to manage the business based on good investigative analysis.
  • Support an integrated talent management process for the facility.
  • Assess and develop competencies of direct reports.
  • Ensure proper backups exist to deal with disruptions due to vacations and sudden emergencies (ie, injuries, deaths, weather conditions, etc)
  • Coach and develop employees to maximize their effectiveness.
  • Identify and develop high potential employees for levels of greater responsibility and scope.
  • Recruit talent that will address needs of department and fill technical and competency gaps within the group.
  • Ensure performance feedback and appraisals are completed effectively and on a timely basis.
  • Reward and recognize employees with a pay for performance approach.
