Responsibilities

• Perform routine transportation operations and maintenance support work such as roadway maintenance and repair.
• Operate light and heavy equipment for various maintenance tasks.
• Assist in identifying, repairing, and installing traffic control devices and signs.
• Provide support to local law enforcement at accident sites and assist stranded motorists.
• Conduct traffic control by placing and gathering cones, warning signs, and barricades.
• Inspect barricades and traffic control devices for compliance with standards.
• Maintain highways, rights-of-way, and perform roadway repairs including erecting guard rails and highway markers.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and minor repairs on equipment.
• Assist with emergency situations such as floods, tornadoes, and hazardous material spills.
