About The Position

Aug Prep is more than a school, it's a community where excellence, faith, and holistic education come together. We’re not only about high standards but also creating a place where people love to grow, learn, and inspire! We currently serve over 2,400 K4-12 students in our ninth year at our South Campus. We are thrilled to launch our North Campus in the 26-27 school year, initially serving about 300 students in grades K4-6 and 9. Role Description: Aug Prep South Campus is seeking a passionate, creative, student-centered General Music Teacher for grades K4-2. This role builds a joyful foundation for lifelong musicianship through singing, movement, rhythm, and play, while nurturing students’ God-given gifts and love of learning. In collaboration with our arts colleagues, this teacher designs and leads at least two developmentally appropriate performance experiences each year, including the Christmas Program, while supporting a connected K-12 arts vision.

Requirements

  • A belief in the ability of every child and a commitment to ensure excellence for each student.
  • Passion for working with young children and fostering creativity and confidence.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree or coursework in Music Education preferred. State teaching license not required.
  • Experience teaching general music to early elementary students (K4–2) strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of music instruction across early childhood developmental stages, including rhythm, melody, movement, and basic musical literacy.
  • Proficiency in piano/keyboard skills to support classroom instruction, singing, accompaniment, and student engagement.
  • Ability to integrate foundational performance, communication, and collaborative skills appropriate for young learners.
  • Strong understanding of early childhood and elementary instructional practices.
  • Ability to plan lessons aligned to state standards and school expectations.
  • Strong classroom management skills rooted in positive, age-appropriate discipline.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Active participation in a Christian church community.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Skilled in planning and preparation, and organization development; able to balance a focus on big picture priorities while not losing sight of the school goals and objectives. Committed to continuous growth and professional learning.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality music instruction for students in K4–2nd grade that inspires curiosity and joy.
  • Use state music standards to drive instruction, ensuring lessons are developmentally appropriate and aligned to long-term skill progression.
  • Scaffold instruction to meet the developmental needs of students at different stages of learning.
  • Introduce students to a variety of age-appropriate instruments and musical experiences.
  • Teach and inspire students in a way that nurtures musical skill development, expression, and lifelong appreciation for music.
  • Create a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment that promotes creativity, respect, and participation.
  • Assess student learning informally and formally, using observations and performance-based tasks to guide instruction.
  • Seek out opportunities to integrate Biblical truth into lessons.
  • Design and lead grade-level musical performances and celebrations that showcase student growth, musicianship, and confidence.
  • Seek out opportunities to integrate Biblical truth with their lessons.
  • Integrate character education and/or faith-based values into daily lessons.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Manage classroom behavior in a consistent and effective manner, promoting courage, respect, integrity, and perseverance through the development and maintenance of positive relationships with students.

  • Collaborate with arts colleagues in the development of yearly student musical performances
  • Monitor and support students during morning arrival, lunch, recess and dismissal.
