About The Position

Aug Prep is more than a school, it's a community where excellence, faith, and holistic education come together. We’re not only about high standards but also creating a place where people love to grow, learn, and inspire! We currently serve over 2,400 K4-12 students in our ninth year at our South Campus. We are thrilled to launch our North Campus in the 26-27 school year, initially serving about 300 students in grades K4-6 and 9. In This Role, You Will empower students to discover their potential and pursue excellence—academically, personally, and spiritually—through high-quality teaching, individualized support, and authentic care. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional collaborator and team player, have deep knowledge of special education practices, and demonstrate strong proficiency in supporting diverse learners across grade levels. We are particularly interested in educators passionate about working in urban education as part of a high-performing, mission-driven staff. Ideal candidates will also be well versed in strategies that promote metacognitive engagement, differentiated instruction, and inclusive learning. Candidates should be organized, detail-oriented, and demonstrate expertise in developing and implementing individualized plans that meet the needs of each student.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree and a valid K–12 Special Education teaching certification are required, along with any necessary accreditation requirements.

  • Experience supporting diverse learners and implementing effective interventions.
  • Knowledge of universal design for learning (UDL) and differentiated instruction strategies.

  • A master’s degree is a plus, and a state teaching license is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, developmentally appropriate instruction that supports students’ academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and functional growth in alignment with IEP goals and schoolwide standards.
  • Differentiate instruction using specialized strategies such as multisensory learning, explicit modeling, scaffolded practice, repetition, and targeted interventions to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Adapt and modify grade-level curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments to ensure access and meaningful participation for students with disabilities in inclusive and small-group settings.
  • Use student learning data, progress monitoring tools, and formative/summative assessments to guide instructional decisions, track progress toward IEP goals, and adjust supports as needed.
  • Collaborate with families, general education teachers, related service providers, and multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and review individualized education programs (IEPs) that promote students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including IEP progress, service logs, reports, and records while communicating regularly with parents and staff to ensure coordinated support across settings.
  • Integrate character education and/or faith-based values into daily lessons.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Manage classroom behavior in a consistent and effective manner, promoting courage, respect, integrity, and perseverance through the development and maintenance of positive relationships with students.
  • Serve as the cultural and spiritual model for students, consistently demonstrating God’s love through respectful interactions with students and families.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and guardians about student progress, behavior, and needs.
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding all student information.
  • Be open to coaching and feedback to continuously improve teaching practices and support positive student outcomes.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to implement instruction with fidelity.
  • Collaborate as a team player and proactively offer solutions as challenges arise throughout the school year.
  • Work closely with colleagues, instructional aides, and support staff to enhance student learning.
  • Maintain positive, solution-oriented relationships with colleagues, supervisors, students, parents/guardians, and community members to foster an inclusive environment for optimal learning.
  • Seek continued professional growth through departmental meetings, professional development, formal coursework, workshops, and seminars.
  • Serve as a role model for students by demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and positive behavior.
  • Remain open-minded to growth and actively engage in the school community as we continue to expand and evolve.
  • Monitor and support students during morning arrival, lunch, recess, and dismissal.
  • Serve with a flexible, open heart, recognizing that no duty is outside the scope of your role as we work together in service of our students.
  • Travel between the K–8 and high school buildings as needed to provide instruction.
