About The Position

The K12 Zone Content & Event Intern will support the development and enhancement of K12 zones by creating engaging assets, designing virtual scenes, and organizing activities that foster student interaction in a virtual environment. This internship provides hands-on experience in content creation, event planning, and community management, allowing the intern to contribute ideas and work collaboratively with the program manager and other interns.

Requirements

• Currently a high school student enrolled in a school powered by K12.
• Required parental/school consent and any necessary work permits per state law.
• Familiarity with Canva for asset and scene creation; basic proficiency in Excel or similar tools for tracking projects.
• Experience or interest in virtual environments or gaming, with a readiness to work in an online setting.
• Self-starter with a creative mindset and the ability to independently pursue ideas and tasks with minimal oversight.

• Interest in digital design, virtual world building, or community engagement.
• Willingness to build a portfolio showcasing projects completed during the internship.
• Capable of managing time effectively to complete tasks within the weekly 3-hour work limit.
• Willing to collaborate in a team environment, provide input during meetings, and communicate effectively with the program manager.

Responsibilities

• Utilize design tools, primarily Canva, to develop creative assets and scenes for holiday and themed events within the K12 zones.
• Assist in the planning and execution of virtual events, such as social gatherings, clubs, and building projects, aimed at enhancing community interaction.
• Collaborate with the program manager and other interns in weekly meetings to bring fresh ideas for content, activities, and events that align with student interests and seasonal themes.
• Track and complete assigned projects, maintaining organized records and a portfolio of completed work.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the K12 zones by adding creative, engaging spaces that encourage regular student participation and enhance the virtual community experience.
• Stay open to feedback and continuously explore ways to improve content and activity quality in the metaverse.
