About The Position

Hanover’s Advisory team is committed to ensuring success of the K12 team’s strategic framework, with an acute focus on enhancing the client experience, serving as thought leaders in the K12 sector, adding value to clients through capacity-building and implementation support, while also building efficiencies in the workflow. The K12 Advisor will support our K12 Advisory clients as the expert across priority areas - including strategic planning, data literacy, program evaluation, action planning, instructional audits, special education audits, leadership development, and AI integration. The K12 advisor will be responsible for the management, development, and administration of Advisory services, including but not limited to virtual and onsite workshops, consultations, facilitated discussions, webinars, school board presentations, content development, research analyses, etc. This position will include opportunities to manage and support the work of colleagues on individual Advisory content development through initial scoping and outlining, source identification, creation, editing, and delivery. This position will report to the Senior Director of the team.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of K12 as an organization, with keen knowledge of adult learning and professional development best practices
  • Highly skilled at critical thinking and strategizing complex issues in K12 with a proven ability to drive change and achieve results in a K12 educational setting
  • Willingness and keen ability to tackle complex, often unfamiliar requests
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills; able to build rapport quickly with district leaders
  • Excellent facilitation, presentation, and discussion management skills with experience in conducting workshops and activities, presenting work and results from research studies in written and verbal form in front of multiple stakeholder groups
  • Demonstrated knowledge of secondary, qualitative, quantitative, and survey research methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify patterns, and synthesize findings into coherent, strategic recommendations.
  • High comfort with virtual platforms, including Zoom, to facilitate virtual workshops and consultations
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects in order to meet deadlines; reliable and consistently completes work in a timely manner with high quality
  • Excellent research, writing, project management and organizational skills, with strong attention for detail
  • Strong people management skills and ability to provide coaching and support to direct report(s), and collaborate in a positive manner with colleagues across the K12 team
  • Strong commitment to growth mindset and a desire to work both independently and collaboratively to grow individual and team skills and capabilities
  • A strong work ethic with a commitment to continuous improvement in K12 settings
  • Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an equitable working and continual learning environment in support of Hanover’s K12 vision and mission
  • A minimum of a master’s degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D. preferred) in education or related field is preferred
  • A minimum of 5+ years in K12 education sector, with at least 3 years of experience in two of the following is preferred: Consulting experience Client management experience Project management experience Conducting and analyzing applied education research or evaluation Developing and facilitating professional learning sessions to K12 district audiences
  • A minimum of 3+ years of full-time work experience in a K12 instruction or administrative role (e.g., classroom teacher, curriculum development, administrator) preferred.
  • Experience developing learning content or resources for K12 professional learning sessions
  • Knowledge of the following areas with deep knowledge in at least four of these areas: Program Evaluation Data Literacy Strategic Planning Action Planning Instructional Audit Special Education Audit Leadership Development AI Integration
  • Ability and willingness to travel 50-75% (currently only domestically)

Responsibilities

  • Provides high quality management and delivery of Advisory services related to one or more priority areas (i.e., strategic planning, program evaluation, data literacy, equity, action planning, etc.)
  • Co-leads professional learning sessions and consultations with district and school leaders, as well as a variety of K12 stakeholders that may be present on district committees (i.e., parents, board members, students)
  • Develops trusting relationships with K12 Advisory points of contacts and teams across districts
  • Reviews drafts and extension of learning activities from members and provides thoughtful, actionable recommendations and resources during consultations
  • Devises strategies to support district leaders in designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating key initiatives
  • Serves as the primary advisor with clients around priority area(s), collaborating with other colleagues on the team to orchestrate workshops and provide consultations
  • Provides the strategy and determines the best approach for each Advisory client in caseload based on internal and external demands and timelines
  • Works with the Managing Director to collect data and evidence of impact using evaluation feedback forms and qualitative data and adjusts facilitation and sequence of sessions accordingly
  • Manages risk to client health effectively by collaborating with Managing Director and employing risk mitigating strategies
  • Provides conceptual guidance and supports development of content for Advisory services related to key priority area(s)
  • Develops content to support Advisory service delivery, including follow-up to workshops and materials for consultations
  • Leads and manages internal project and product development by working collaboratively with colleagues on the team
  • Innovates and creates new ways of presenting content to expand our Advisory offerings related to the key priority areas
  • Manages tight deadlines to create workshops and supporting documents
  • Advises and provides training to colleagues across the K12 team on key priority area(s)
  • Ensures deliverables are polished and client ready, with timely delivery to district leaders
  • Manages projects effectively and ensures records are up-to-date
  • Delivers constructive feedback to team members, including direct reports, in a timely manner
  • Manages Associate Advisor(s), providing coaching around key skills and knowledge needed to effectively serve Advisory members
