About The Position

Requirements

  • Minimum education not specified; must meet standards for required license and/or certification.
  • Previous hospital security or law enforcement experience preferred.
  • Must obtain State of Tennessee Armed or Unarmed Guard Card within 45 days of hire.
  • Valid Tennessee driver's license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage required.
  • Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to situations where a Security canine team would be effective in maintaining order.
  • Takes a leadership position at the scene where the canine is needed.
  • Provides security services such as crowd control and serves as backup during room searches.
  • Assists the Administrator-on-call and Nursing Supervisor in maintaining a quiet, safe campus.
  • Patrols designated security areas, reporting any unsafe conditions.
  • Investigates and follows up on all reported incidents where the canine can assist.
  • Completes written reports and additional Patrol Canine Paperwork as necessary.
  • Participates in mandatory monthly training with a certified master instructor.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Completes required education assignments annually.
  • Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
