The K–8th Grade Art Teacher will design and deliver engaging visual arts instruction that fosters creativity, self-expression, and cultural awareness among students at the Bronzeville campus. This role offers an opportunity to inspire students through the arts while contributing to a vibrant, inclusive, and mission-driven school community.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field
- Demonstrated proficiency in multiple art mediums
Nice To Haves
- Master's degree in Education or related field
- Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Experience teaching art at the elementary or middle school level
- Experience working in urban education or culturally responsive educational settings
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a standards-based art curriculum aligned with grade-level expectations
- Deliver engaging, hands-on lessons that support creativity, skill development, and artistic expression
- Provide instruction across a variety of mediums, including drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, digital art, and mixed media
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Provide individualized feedback to support student growth and artistic development
- Create a structured, inclusive, and inspiring classroom environment
- Foster student confidence, creativity, and appreciation for the arts
- Support students’ social-emotional development through artistic exploration
- Maintain classroom materials, supplies, and organization
- Organize and facilitate student art showcases, exhibitions, and events
- Build relationships with students and families to support student engagement
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative school culture
- Collaborate with colleagues and leadership to support school-wide initiatives
- Participate in professional development and staff meetings
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and participation
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support school and organizational needs
