About The Position

It Takes A Village Family of Schools (ITAV) is a beacon for educating and uplifting Black children and families across Chicago. The K–8th Grade Art Teacher will design and deliver engaging visual arts instruction that fosters creativity, self-expression, and cultural awareness among students at the Bronzeville campus. This role offers an opportunity to inspire students through the arts while contributing to a vibrant, inclusive, and mission-driven school community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field
  • Demonstrated proficiency in multiple art mediums

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Education or related field
  • Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • Experience teaching art at the elementary or middle school level
  • Experience working in urban education or culturally responsive educational settings

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a standards-based art curriculum aligned with grade-level expectations
  • Deliver engaging, hands-on lessons that support creativity, skill development, and artistic expression
  • Provide instruction across a variety of mediums, including drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, digital art, and mixed media
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Provide individualized feedback to support student growth and artistic development
  • Create a structured, inclusive, and inspiring classroom environment
  • Foster student confidence, creativity, and appreciation for the arts
  • Support students’ social-emotional development through artistic exploration
  • Maintain classroom materials, supplies, and organization
  • Organize and facilitate student art showcases, exhibitions, and events
  • Build relationships with students and families to support student engagement
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative school culture
  • Collaborate with colleagues and leadership to support school-wide initiatives
  • Participate in professional development and staff meetings
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and participation
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support school and organizational needs
