About The Position
Detroit Merit Charter Academy, located in Detroit, MI, opened in 2003 and serves over 700 K-8 students each year. The academy is dedicated to connecting purpose with passion in education. As a Teacher in Residence (TIR), you will have the opportunity to bring your passion for teaching to our school. We are proactively hiring talented teachers for the upcoming school year before classroom openings become available. TIRs will be assigned a specific classroom and will collaborate with school leadership and other teachers to prepare for the school year. This role is designed to prepare you to assume responsibility for a classroom teacher position when a vacancy arises.
