About The Position

Overview of position: The K–8 MTSS Specialist supports the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth of students through the implementation of a comprehensive Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). This role is responsible for developing effective intervention systems, collecting and analyzing student data, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure student progress. The appointee plays a crucial role in ensuring a highly functioning learning environment for all learners. The MTSS Specialist is a contributing member of the Student Support Team and works closely with campus principals, teachers, families, and other stakeholders to ensure that Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions result in measurable positive student growth. The anticipated start date for this position is as soon as possible. The selected candidate will report to Whiteman Elementary Principal and Gilpin Middle School Principal. Pay and Benefits: Employees at DLS are compensated in accordance with other Denver-area charter schools. The annual salary of $63,222 - $66,333 will be prorated to reflect a mid-year start. 10 days of PTO with an option to roll days to the following school year. PTO will be prorated to reflect a mid-year start. Health, vision, and dental insurance subsidized by the school. Employee assistance program and online mental health support paid by the school. Early student release each Friday to offer opportunities for professional development and collaboration. Discounted rates for after-school Fun Clubs of employees’ children. Individualized coaching and support, as well as school-funded professional development. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
  • 2+ year prior experience serving as an MTSS Specialist or instructional interventionist
  • 2+ years experience working with K–8 students
  • Strong knowledge of MTSS systems, intervention design, and progress monitoring
  • Licensed general education teacher or licensed special education teacher
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong knowledge of MTSS frameworks and intervention strategies
  • Data analysis and progress monitoring skills
  • Ability to design and implement targeted academic and behavioral supports
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Problem-solving and solution-oriented mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Education or related field
  • Experience leading or facilitating student support teams
  • Experience in a language immersion or charter school setting
  • Strong background in academic and behavioral data systems

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement effective Tier 1 and Tier 2 intervention systems aligned to student academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
  • Develop and maintain data collection systems to monitor student academic, socio-emotional and behavioral progress and intervention effectiveness.
  • Ensure Tier 1 and Tier 2 students demonstrate measurable positive growth aligned to identified needs.
  • Analyze student data regularly to determine intervention adjustments and instructional next steps.
  • Serve as a contributing member of the Student Support Team.
  • Collaborate positively and effectively with student support team members, campus leadership, teachers, students, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Support teachers in implementing classroom-based interventions and progress monitoring strategies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with school and district expectations.
  • Other tasks that are assigned in order to achieve the organization’s mission.
