About The Position

The K/2 Instructional Teaching Assistant for 1st Grade at Parsons Elementary School is responsible for assisting the teacher and working directly with students to enhance their learning experience. The position requires supervision of students during lunch and support in various academic tasks as directed by the teacher. The role is essential in maintaining a safe and productive learning environment for students in grades K, 1, and 2.

Requirements

• At least 19 years of age to serve students in prekindergarten through grade 12.
• One of the following required: Associate's degree or higher, 60 semester hours of coursework, or High School Diploma/GED with a score of 460 or higher on the ETS Parapro.
• High School Diploma or GED with specific ACT Workkeys scores: Applied Mathematics (score of 4) and Reading for Information (score of 4).

Responsibilities

• Assist all students in their assigned daily academics as instructed by teachers.
• Assist in grading work and assigning students individual academic work.
• Help maintain individual records for each student.
• Distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction.
• Supervise students during lunch period.
• Alert the teacher to special needs of individual students.
• Provide escorts and assistance to students as necessary.
• Implement changes as needed to meet the individual needs of students.
• Take responsibility for student safety education and accident prevention.
• Report all unsafe conditions to the school principal promptly.
• Report all accidents or injuries to the principal as soon as possible.
• Supervise and intervene to regulate student behavior to alleviate risks.
• Assist with toileting after proper training.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
