About The Position

Chatham High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our athletic department as a full-time coach for the Junior Varsity Girls Basketball team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the game, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture. This position requires the ability to inspire and motivate young athletes while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal development. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive training program that enhances players' skills and knowledge of the game. Conduct regular practices, focusing on individual and team development, strategy, and conditioning. Organize and oversee all aspects of the JV Girls Basketball program, including scheduling games and practices, managing equipment, and coordinating travel arrangements. Collaborate with the varsity head coach to align training and development strategies for athletes transitioning to the varsity level. Foster a positive team environment that emphasizes respect, discipline, and sportsmanship. Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team policies, schedules, and player progress. Monitor and assess player performance, providing constructive feedback to encourage growth and improvement. Ensure compliance with all school and athletic department policies, as well as state and national regulations. Attend all required meetings, clinics, and professional development opportunities to stay current on coaching techniques and strategies. Promote the program within the school and community to encourage participation and support for the team.

Requirements

NJ Teaching Credential OR NJ Substitute Credential
Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.
Previous coaching experience, particularly at the high school level, is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with players, parents, and staff.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive team environment.
First Aid and CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
Must be able to pass a background check and adhere to all school and district policies.
The use of Duo Mobile on a personal device is a requirement of employment at the School District of the Chathams.
