About The Position

The JV Girls's Basketball Coach is responsible for leading student athletes in team competition, assisting the head coach, and coaching players in their development of individual and team skills. The position emphasizes the development of Christian leaders among the athletes. ACS Athletics aims to showcase Christian character through its teams, focusing on winning while glorifying God and fostering an environment of encouragement, teamwork, and excellence.

Requirements

  • Have received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior.
  • Believe that the Bible is God's Word and standard for faith and daily living.
  • Be in whole-hearted agreement with the school's Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of education.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and punctuality.
  • Maintain emotional stability and positive words/actions under the stress of athletic competition.
  • Maintain a personal appearance that is a Christian role model.
  • Use acceptable written and oral communication with clear articulation.
  • Refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately.

Responsibilities

  • Lead athletes to grow in mind, spirit, and body.
  • Provide recommendations for off-season training and camp.
  • Manage the balance of developing fitness and skill with beginners.
  • Advise athletes in their pursuit of athletic goals.
  • Teach both the basic and more advanced skills of the sport.
  • Develop and supervise regular practices in-season.
  • Work with the Athletic Director to develop a practice schedule.
  • Notify the Athletic Director of any changes to the practice schedule.
  • Check the practice facility/field before and after each practice.
  • Remain at the facility/field until all players have left after practices.
  • Dress professionally on game days.
  • Be present on campus for game-day early dismissals of student athletes.
  • Coordinate team pre-game activities and supervise warm-ups.
  • Coach during the game with intensity, encouragement, and professionalism.
  • Provide contact information to parents if necessary.
  • Assist in communicating game times, locations, and expectations.
  • Establish expectations with team captain(s) and players at the beginning of the season.
  • Assist in providing equipment/uniform requests to the Athletic Director.
  • Meet with the Athletic Director regularly to evaluate performance and program needs.
