About the position
The position requires coaches to possess specific certifications and adhere to coaching standards that emphasize professionalism, communication, safety, management, and knowledge of the sport. Coaches must ensure a respectful and ethical environment for athletes and maintain effective communication with parents and the school district. They are responsible for providing a safe structure for athletes, managing the season effectively, and creating competitive teams that foster teamwork among athletes of varying skill levels.
Responsibilities
- Supervise students in locker rooms, training areas, and during activities.
- Organize practice sessions and activities with attention to individual and group needs.
- Manage finances, scheduling, transportation, and other logistical aspects of the season.
- Teach skills and strategies effectively to athletes.
- Prepare the team for competitions and make necessary adjustments during events.
- Create a team environment that motivates athletes of all skill levels.
Requirements
- Type 10 or Type 20 drivers' certificate unless a medical condition prevents obtaining it.
- Interscholastic Coaching Course or previous ASEP/NFHS Certification.
- Background/criminal history clearance.
- Concussion Management Certification.
- Anabolic Steroid Certification.
- First Aid card.
- Interrupting and Preventing Discriminatory Acts Training.
- OSAA Heat Illness prevention certification.
